Greater Understanding

I've been learning a LOT lately and wanted to share some bits and the resources as well.

Do you know the difference between SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM? Did you know that, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ we really DO want the United Order? If you're unsure of any of these terms, I encourage you to read HERE.

I was guided to the original link to that article, but didn't save the link. Because I was unable to read it online (the type was SUPER tiny), I copied and pasted it onto Word. Since I couldn't re-locate the original link, I figured the next best thing was to make a spot for it in my blog and guide you there. ^_^ It is long (I haven't finished the last bit yet), but VERY informative. I mean, it talks about the philosophies (of men) and how they came to be and by what means they may be implemented. Super good information to have in the head when we discuss these things in a calm and peaceful manner with those who disagree with us, but don't completely understand what Socialism is... perhaps.

As a result of the above article, I now have to correct some of my own word use. I'm super happy to have a better understanding of the terms socialism and communism and how they compare and contrast with The United Order by the "mouth" of a prophet. I basically knew that the two former terms were founded in good... theoretically, but in practice are actually the Deceiver's plan manifested because they involve force and control.

The following can be found in a blog that looks like one I'll be reading regularly:

"The town hall uprisings have roused an arrogant, angry reaction from the Obama faction's political and media hacks. It reeks of surprised indignation. 'How dare these people prove more intelligent and feisty than we expected?' they seem to say. Their surprise more and more appears to be the only thing about them that is not insincere; that and their hunger for power."

The following is just one paragraph from: Approaching Zion: Our Glory or Our Condemnation. I hope you will read the whole thing. Much of it I knew, but it helped me understand with greater clarity the sort of superficial knowledge I was already privy to.

"What is this ideal Zion like? In the last days, we are told, it will be a place of refuge in a doomed world. "It shall be called the New Jerusalem, a land of peace, a city of refuge, a place of safety for the saints of the Most High God; . . . and the terror of the Lord also shall be there, . . . and it shall be called Zion" (D&C 45:66-67). At that time, "every man that will not take his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety" (D&C 45:68). And the wicked shall say that Zion is terrible. Terrible because it is indestructible. Her invulnerability makes her an object of awe and terror. As Enoch said, "Surely Zion shall dwell in safety forever. But the Lord said unto Enoch: Zion have I blessed, but the residue of the people have I cursed" (Moses 7:20). So Zion was taken away and the rest destroyed. Zion itself is never in danger; on the contrary, it alone offers safety to the world, "that the gathering together upon the land of Zion, and upon her stakes, may be for a defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth" (D&C 115:6). It would seem that Zion enjoys the complete security of a bit of the celestial world and that nothing can touch it as long as it retains the character. But celestial order it must be. As we have seen, Zion cannot be built up "unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom" (D&C 105:5). It must at all times be holy enough to receive the Lord himself in person. "For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation" (Psalm 132:13); "Behold mine abode forever" (Moses 7:21). Zion is heaven. It is where God lives. A bit of heaven indeed."

And finally, for now...
Have you had any feeling that our President believes he is a sort of savior for our struggling country? I certainly have. And it disturbs me to find a book, paperback, small, the first words of which declare that said book should be born in the pockets of every American, read repeatedly, passages memorized, etc. Do you wonder about this book? It's called The Pocket Obama. You can read the first page (I was referring to it above) and see, for yourself, if I'm exaggerating or not. Please do, in fact!
