a little swelling

by the end of the day I was stung BEFORE the day I almost died

by the end of the second day after the sting above

comparing stings - similar sting on the other arm a little later than the one above

this comparison is for stings that happened a time before the time I almost died
both instances in April 2012

So, I didn't take pictures of the stings and swelling I endured most recently.  I was stung at least 8 times.  Probably more like 10.  A couple on my back, arms, leg, hands... thank goodness for veils!  There were a number of bees trying to get at my face, for sure.

Apparently, I'm quite allergic to bee stings.  So, after the last fiasco, I purchased a bee suit on the cheap.  Hopefully I won't faint from overheating!  It's a neoprene thing and you're supposed to check on bees in the hottest part of the day.  Yeah, not a good combo... but hopefully better than the stings.  Unfortunately, I will also be wearing boots and full gloves.  I was so hoping to be able to right in there with the hive.  But nope.  Not for me, I suppose.

Taste of Summer for Me

While I do know (Jessie told me) that FGT are normally FALL fare, I've only ever had them at the beginning of summer.  So, they are the taste of summer for ME.  :)

And YOU are SO blessed today because I'm going to share Jessie's recipe for FGT right here!  ^_^

Fried Green Tomatoes
a 'la Chef Jessie

green tomatoes; cut into 1/2 inch slices
Club crackers (at least 1 box for about 6 med. sized tomatoes)
3 step breading:
flour in a dish
1:1 egg and flour in another dish
dish full of crushed Club crackers

Process:
-dip each slice of green tomato in flour
-dip the same slice in the egg wash
-place the same slice in the dish of Club cracker
-scoop the Club cracker crumbs on top of the slice and press
-repeat on the other side of the tomato
 -place in 350 degree oil
-wait until the first side is golden brown
-flip and wait until the second side is golden brown
-remove to newsprint paper or paper towel or a cloth towel

Serve:
on a plate with salt
and/or Ranch Salad dressing
and/or BBQ sauce

YUM!
